The Potter's Studio is sited in Seagrove, NC. The building is designed to be built in two parts - first the studio sited at the edge of the water, followed by the gallery located slightly further inland. The gallery functions as a store for the potter. Given the small scale of the operation, the entire building had to be maintained by a single person, meaning that the potter needs to be aware of what is happening in the gallery even when working in the studio. This connectivity and awareness is facilitated by strategically placed floor to ceiling windows. The deck surrounding the building provides space for various social events of varying scales. The deck employs the use of slight level changes to mark the different use changes. The studio includes a loft and opens both towards the kiln and towards the water. This allows the potter greater control over their working environment. In addition to the building, a pedestal display system was designed to showcase the potter's work within the gallery.
